Used Komatsu PC400 Excavator Guide: Large Class Export Buying Tips

Release time: 2026-10-23

The Komatsu PC400 class (including PC400-7 / PC400-8 variants) is a large excavator for quarry faces, mining support and heavy loading. Landing one from China only makes sense if you verify structure and undercarriage carefully — repair costs scale fast at this size.

When a PC400 is the right buy

Choose PC400 when 20-ton machines cycle too slowly on your rock or when you need deeper reach. For general civil work, a PC200/PC210 is usually enough and cheaper to ship.

High-cost inspection items

  • Boom and arm cracks, especially around the boom foot and stick nose
  • Swing bearing play and grease path
  • Track group remaining life (shoes, pins, bushings, rollers, idlers, sprockets)
  • Main pump output and abnormal metal in filters
  • Engine blow-by and turbo condition on cold start

Shipping reality

PC400-class machines almost always move as bulk or heavy flat-rack cargo. Freight is a big share of landed cost, so confirm port crane limits before you book. We can share yard videos and a packing proposal from Shanghai.
