EC290 vs EC300 vs EC350: which size fits?

• Volvo EC290 / EC290B / EC290BLC (about 29–30 tons): the volume mid-heavy Volvo for road and civil contracts. Examples: EC290 #580, EC290BLC (2023, 673 h), EC290 (2023, 783 h) and EC290B (2023, 900 h).
• Volvo EC300 / EC300D (about 30–32 tons): more dig force and truck-loading capacity for quarry and pipe work. Example: EC300D (2020, 2672 h).
• Volvo EC350 / EC350D / EC350DL (about 35–36 tons): heavy mid-class for rock and high-tonnage loading. Examples: EC350DL (2023, 760 h) and EC350D (2022, 983 h).

What to check on a live video

1. Serial plate, hour meter and monitor in one uncut clip, including any fault codes.
2. Cold start and smoke colour, then blow-by at the oil filler once warm.
3. Combined movements: boom up, stick in and swing together at full throttle with no hesitation.
4. Boom drift: hold a loaded bucket in the air for one minute and watch for creeping.
5. Pins, bushings and swing bearing play at the bucket, stick and upper structure.
6. Undercarriage: sprockets, rollers, idlers and shoe height — critical on 29–36 ton machines.
7. Hammer piping and stick nose wear if you plan breaker work.

Shipping from Shanghai

An EC290 or EC300 usually ships on a flat rack or by RoRo; EC350 almost always needs a flat rack, often with the counterweight or bucket removed. Ask for FOB Shanghai and CIF to ports such as Mombasa, Dar es Salaam, Lagos, Callao or Santos, and confirm age and inspection rules with your broker.
