Used Sumitomo Excavator for Sale from China: SH120 and SH380 Export Guide
Release time: 2026-11-02
Sumitomo excavators from Japan are a solid alternative when buyers want proven hydraulics without the premium price of the largest CAT or Komatsu fleets. In Shanghai we commonly see the mid-size SH120 / 120A3 and the heavy SH380, plus compact units such as the 75XB. This guide explains what each class is good for, what to check on video, and how to buy a used Sumitomo excavator for sale from China.
Sumitomo models we stock for export
- Sumitomo SH120 / 120A3 (about 12–13 tons): road maintenance, urban digging and loading light trucks. Example: Sumitomo 120A3 #907.
- Sumitomo 75XB (about 7–8 tons): compact work where a full 20-ton machine is too large. Example: Sumitomo 75XB #908.
- Sumitomo SH380 (about 38 tons): quarry loading, deep excavation and heavy truck work. Example: Sumitomo SH380 #909.

What to check on a Sumitomo walk-around
- Serial plate, hour meter and monitor in one continuous clip.
- Cold start and smoke; check blow-by once the engine is warm.
- Combined movements at full throttle — boom, stick and swing together.
- Boom drift with a loaded bucket held in the air.
- Pins, bushings and swing bearing play.
- Undercarriage wear: sprockets, rollers, idlers and shoe height (critical on SH380).
- Hammer piping and stick nose condition if breaker work is planned.
Compared with CAT and Komatsu in the same tonnage, Sumitomo often lands at a sharper FOB price while still offering Japan-origin frames and Kawasaki-style hydraulics that African workshops know how to service. When you shortlist, ask for the manufacture year on the serial plate, not only the hour meter — a late-model SH120 with moderate hours usually beats an older high-hour unit on fuel burn and residual value. For quarry buyers, confirm whether the SH380 has a reinforced boom and breaker piping before you commit.
FOB Shanghai and CIF shipping
SH120-class machines often travel on a flat rack or open-top; the SH380 usually needs a flat rack or RoRo with counterweight planning. Ask for FOB Shanghai and CIF to your port, and confirm local age limits with your customs broker. For East Africa routes see our Kenya, Ghana and South Africa import guide.
